Most violins with a new design I’ve ever seen seemed to be more or less artistic deformations of the classical violin. I wanted to make one which had just the general proportions in common with it, but no features like corners, f-holes or a scroll. The general design guideline is the S-curve – the whole shape being a succession of these curves. The model has got a powerful, brilliant sound.
